He is survived by his loving wife, Ethel Cavender; three sons, Michael Cavender of Princeton, New Jersey, David Cavender (Dianah) of Miamisburg, Ohio, Ken Hess (Jenny) of Puyallup, Washington; daughter, Susan McManus of Orting, Washington; brother, Richard Blalock; sister, Peg Purcell; eight grandchildren, Sarah Cavender, Matthew Cavender, Tabitha Putnam, Tom McManus, Derek Hess, Morgan Neff, Jessica Hess, and Vanessa Hess; and three great grandchildren, Aaleyeh Putnam, Kaia Putnam, and Kiersten McManus.
