Ruberta Bailey Obituary (1913

Ruberta Clara (Williams) Bailey passed away on February 6, 2015 at 2:15 pm. She was 101 years old. She was born on Dec. 6, 1913, during a blizzard in Ordway CO. She was a preemie in an era when few babies born early survived. She married the love of her life, Charles Allen Bailey on Sept. 29, 1936. About him she said "He was the most beautiful man I had ever seen!" He worked as a Machinist and she worked as a telephone operator. Their son, Charles Allyn was born in 1941. Later... they opened a neighborhood grocery store, Roosevelt Heights Grocery in Tacoma which they operated for several years. They decided to try a toy store, and opened Bailey's Toys and Hobbies in Pasco. His specialty was model trains, and hers was dolls. For the first year Charles ran the toy store and Bert ran the grocery store. When it closed she and young Charles moved to Kennewick. Charles Senior passed away in Jan. 1969, and Bert continued to run the toy store until 1978 when it was sold. Bert loved traveling and visited nearly 60 different countries. Her last trip was in her late 80's when she traveled to Norway and took a freighter trip up through the fjords and up to the Arctic Circle. She very much enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was so very proud of all of them. She was preceded in death by her parents Jennie Belle and John M. Williams, her brothers Howard and Wayne Williams and her husband Charles. She is survived by her son Charles Allyn and his wife Shirley; grandson Charles Allen; granddaughter Tammi Ryan; great granddaughters Caitlin Smith, Mackey Bailey and Zoe Bailey, great grandson Timothy Harold Ryan Jr.; and nieces Judy Johnson, Janet Glassett, Kathryn Dungey and Joyce Anderson.
