Peggy Morris Woodley

1929 - 2011

Peggy left us on September 19th after a long and amazing life. She was surrounded by her family and closest friends, including her beloved dog Tye.

Peggy was a long-time resident of the Kent area, living and working there for over 70 years. She retired from the Kent School District after 35 years of joyous and distinguished service.

She started her career as a parent volunteer at Covington Elementary. She later moved on with her girls to Cedar Valley and twice was awarded The Golden Acorn Award. She began officially working at Sequoia Jr. High where her position put her in daily contact with many 'at risk' students. Her tough love approach and her sincere concern for all made her a legend with peers, parents, and students. She moved on to Cedar Heights and continued her beloved "in house" program.

Through out the years, students often dropped by just to chat. Many brought their own children to meet her. Peggy touched and changed lives and will be missed by many.

In 1963 Peggy was left a widow with 8 small children when her husband, Robert (Bob) Morris, died in a hunting accident. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jeanne, son Richard, beloved husband Fred Woodley, granddaughter Cori Morris, and great grandson Joey Carfagno. She is survived by her children Peter Morris (Maria) Federal Way, Lynn Conrad, Wasilla, AK, Hanna Luther, Clallam Bay, Mark Morris (Sharon), Auburn, Susan Benchrif, Maple Valley, Patti Johnson (Doug), Bothell, and Betsy Barnhouse, Casa Grande, AZ. Peggy also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

At Peggy's request, a private celebration of her life was held on Saturday, September 24th. Peggy's favorite charities include St. Jude's Hospital , Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, and the Make a Wish Foundation.

Thank you Mom, Grandma, and dear friend for the gift your life has been to us all. You will always be in our hearts. Please share your memories of Peggy by signing our online guest book.
