MR

Martin Roberts

–

Kent, Washington

Martin Roberts was born in Mobile, Alabama on July 23, 1923 to Mr. Louis and Lou Jessie Roberts, Sr. At the tender age of 20, he joined the military. Martin served in the military for 26 years of his life, beginning in 1943 and retiring honorably in 1969. He spent the first few years with the Navy before joining the Army. Martin served in Indochina, Korea, and 2 tours in Vietnam, and spent some time in Japan and the United States as well as France. He was a trained mechanic, an Associate Instructor, a Law enforcement officer, and an Emergency Medic. Martin received many medals and ribbons during his career with the U.S. Army. He was very well liked by his peers and his commanding officers, and received many letters of appreciation for his superior knowledge and dedication.
While stationed in Tokyo, Japan, Martin met Masu Masuda and they were married in 1951. They had 3 children - Margrece, Frank, and Peggy. The family traveled all over the United States and Japan before settling in Tacoma, WA in the early 70's.
After the Army, Martin had several callings before becoming an apartment-complex manager and handyman. He had extraordinary skills in mechanics, loved to work on cars, and was known for his love of starting and growing tomato plants. Martin also had a heart of gold. He would go out of his way to reach out to those who needed his help. His loving and understanding personality is what made him unique.

We love you and you will be greatly missed. Your memories will be cherished forever in our hearts.

Martin is survived by his wife Masuko "Masu" Roberts of Seattle, Washington; son Frank and Sue Roberts of Tacoma, Washington; daughter Peggy and Tony Lengertas of Seattle, Washington; 3 granddaughters - Marquita and Andy Shough of Angola, Indiana, Cassandrea Neal of Seattle, Washington, and Ferrah Roberts of Tacoma, Washington; 4 great grandsons - Kristopher Osterberg of Tacoma, Washington, Zakariah Shough of Angola, Indiana, Dallax Doyle of Graham, Washington, and Charles Larson III of Angola, Indiana; and numerous family members and loving friends.
