June 15, 1923 - July 16, 2010
George was born to Arlie and Addie Lou Dunn in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. During the depression, he worked hard from the age of 12 to provide for his mother, sister, and brother. He served aboard the navy tanker USS Nausett from 1944 to 1946. He married Leila Smith on June 10, 1944, and they enjoyed 65 wonderful years together, mostly at the home George built east of Kent. George retired after 33 years with Boeing as a mechanic and member of the Mechanics Union 751. Boeing honored him numerous times for his creative designs and ideas.
A member of the Christian Church, George had a strong faith in God. He loved fishing, hunting, building anything, making jewelry, and canning with Leila. He was preceded in death by his wife Leila Dunn in April 2010, his parents, sister Virgie Holleman, and his son Steven Dunn. He is survived by his brother Ed Dunn, daughters Jacqueline Bursch (Cliff) and Kitty Fry (Russ); daughter-in-law Becky Dunn; grandchildren Christine Bozich (Joel), Jeffrey Bursch (Heidi), Douglas Bursch (Jennifer), Joy Couch (Adam), Daniel Bursch (Mary), Richard Fry, Teresa Larivee (Michael), and George Dunn (Sarah). Twenty-five great-grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews will miss him as well.
Wonderful husband, beloved dad, grandpa, and uncle, George will be greatly missed, but we will see him again and know he is enjoying the presence of his Lord and those who passed on before him. Friends and family will celebrate George's life on July 22nd at 11:00 am at Edline & Yahn Funeral Chapel in Covington.
